Product Description:
At fourteen, Nick Gautier thinks he knows everything about the world around him. Streetwise, tough and savvy, his quick sarcasm is the stuff of legends. . .until the night when his best friends try to kill him. Saved by a mysterious warrior who has more fighting skills than Chuck Norris, Nick is sucked into the realm of the Dark-Hunters: immortal vampire slayers who risk everything to save humanity.
Nick quickly learns that the human world is only a veil for a much larger and more dangerous one: a world where the captain of the football team is a werewolf and the girl he has a crush on goes out at night to stake the undead.
But before he can even learn the rules of this new world, his fellow students are turning into flesh eating zombies. And he’s next on the menu. As if starting high school isn't hard enough. . .now Nick has to hide his new friends from his mom, his chainsaw from the principal, and keep the zombies and the demon Simi from eating his brains, all without getting grounded or suspended. How in the world is he supposed to do that?

The Chronicles of Nick – Book 1
World of the Dark Hunters
It didn’t matter that he had the brains that allowed him to go to his school, Nick Gautier was simply gutter trash who didn’t belong. At least that is what most of his classmates and even some of the staff at his school thought. Nick knew better. His mother had made sacrifices for him his entire life, and he was determined to make things better for them.
He never expected his opportunity to do that would come by when someone witnesses him make one of the stupidest mistakes in his life. He’s offered a job by his rescuer, and he quickly realizes that there is something more going on in the mansion where Kyrian lives.
But all of that pales with what had happened at school. Class jocks were turning into zombies. Heck, it wasn’t limited to just the football team. Zombies were everywhere, and it was up to Nick and some of his new friends, some with quite unusual abilities, to stop them.
Sherrilyn Kenyon has done it again. Young adult readers will be sucked into the world of the Dark Hunters, eager to learn more. Fans of the series will be thrilled to see younger versions of characters they know and love. But there is more, so much more. Little tidbits that dedicated fans will say, wow, I didn’t expect that. Because after reading Infinity, readers will quickly realize this series is not going to be what they expected. It will be more.
Note: The Chronicles of Nick begins with Nick at the age of 14, and shows his introduction to the world of the Dark Hunters. It completely stands on its own as a young adult series. However, if you are reading the Dark Hunter series, there are spoilers in this book that are revealed at a later age of Nick. As such, you might consider reading the Dark Hunter series through at least Acheron before reading Infinity.

Customer Reviews
I almost didn't bother finishing it.: (2010-09-07)
What to say, what to say - its somewhat difficult to write a review for this book as it was neither good nor bad. I briefly considered buying this book in the store but vetoed it in favor of another and instead rented it from the library - I'm really glad I did. Reading some of the other reviews I discovered Nick is apparently from another series where he's older and maybe this is why some people really liked this book. Not just because it's a prequel of a favored character but that reading about him in other books has given him more depth than was shown in Infinity. I find it amusing that so many people were wary of reading a YA Fiction book and then came to the conclusion that this book was "above average" for the genre, because as a regular YA Fiction reader I can say that this was in fact below average. (What YA books have you been reading, if any?) The quick three or four page intro left me ready for a great ride, then the first forty pages of the book was decent, then during the middle I seriously considered leaving the book in favor of another and then it managed to get its act together for a good final sixty pages. The overall story is .... well its mostly about stopping zombies who have been turned by a video game. Yes. That is the story. DO NOT BE DECIEVED BY THE BOOK SUMMARY. And I have to say that as far as zombie plot lines go this was weaker than most. Nick's sarcasm with the exception of a few smile and chuckle worthy moments came out flat and trying to hard, and while the other characters have an interesting premise they were in no way developed. Whatsoever. I am 99.9% sure I already know who it is that is trying to alter Nick's future - this one of the great mysteries to be solved later on in the series. So in conclusion my thoughts on Infinity: "meh." Will I read the next one? Not sure. In any case it'll definitly be rented from the library.
A good Teen book: (2010-08-19)
This story had a good story line. It was nicely written. Good book from a teen boys point of view. I thought it would be a good book for guys to read. Its paranormal stuff, but from a guys mind. It was over all a good book

Sometimes, Nick wishes life was easier. He hates his mother's job that lets them barely survive, and he hates the boys at school for mocking him and his mom. He can't stop himself from fighting. When he's suspended, he's in hot water with his overprotective mother. She makes him promise to go straight home, but he runs into his crowd. They give him an offer to make money that he just can't refuse. Nick can't go through with the plan and ends up saving the elderly couple in question. In retaliation, the boys beat him senseless. A man emerges from the shadows to save him and accompanies him to the hospital. As Nick can't pay the bills, the man makes him a better deal than the guys had - he'll pay the bills and Nick will work for him. On the first day of employment, strange creatures attack the house. Nick isn't sure what's happened, but he now knows that there are other beings in the world. The man turns out to be a Dark Hunter - someone who's been alive for hundreds of years who protects humans from the others. Now that the veil has been lifted, Nick sees the world differently. Just as he's coming to terms with his newfound knowledge, zombies take over his school. The zombies keep coming after him. How much longer can Nick keep them from attacking him while saving the ones he loves and keeping his mother out of the loop? INFINITY is the start of a new series from Ms. Kenyon's Dark-Hunter world, aimed towards young adults. Nick can't seem to catch a break, which made me root for him all the more. He's always in trouble, in danger, meeting new people, or using his greatest survivor skill - sarcasm. Reviewed by: Jennifer Rummel
